About Me
I’m Michael Weiland, LPC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia serving clients in Peachtree Corners, Norcross, and the surrounding metro Atlanta areas of Cobb, Dekalb, Forsyth, Fulton, and Gwinnett Counties. I received a Bachelor Science degree from Georgia College & State University, a Masters of Education degree in Behavior Disorders from Georgia Southwestern & State University, a Masters of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University, and an Education Specialist degree in School Counseling from Valdosta State University.
I have been privileged to serve individuals, couples, families, and communities for over 30 years in the fields of mental health, education, and training — with 17 years of direct counseling experience since 2008. My career has allowed me to work in diverse settings such as inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, mobile crisis response, emergency departments, schools, and the court system. These experiences have given me a rich understanding of the many pathways people travel when facing life’s challenges.
But beyond my clinical work, I also:
Am a lifelong learner who loves music and the arts.
Someone who finds renewal in nature, whether camping on an adventure or simply sitting outside
An avid traveler, cook, and lover of meaningful shared moments with family and friends
A fan of the creative process - whether it be technology, programming, carpentry and woodworking, painting, or dreaming
I believe these personal experiences, alongside my professional training, allow me to connect deeply with people from many walks of life and create a safe, welcoming space for clients of diverse backgrounds.
My Approach to Therapy
Eclectic. Collaborative. Respectful. Tailored to You.
In counseling, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every person who walks into my office carries their own unique story, strengths, challenges, and dreams. My role is not to fit you into a system — it's to meet you where you are and build a path forward together.
While my work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Client-Centered Therapy, I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches, including:
Strengths-Based Therapy
Mindfulness and grounding techniques
Solution-Focused strategies
Trauma-informed care
Prepare-Enrich Assessment (for couples)
Anger Management
Spiritual and faith-based integration (when desired by the client)
Areas of Specialization
Anxiety and Depression
Men's Issues and Identity Development
Relationship and Marriage Counseling
Anger Management
Parenting Support
